The solar economy

Kevin Kelly, of Wired, has has solar panels installed. A business in the US subsidises the installation, discounts your electricity, and reduces your bills. The power you don’t use they sell back to the equvalent of the National Grid, and somehow the whole system supports itself. The solar company even maintains the panels for you. not sure if it would work in the UK, but imagine the application in the 3rd world…

There’s some mindbinding things happening out there, that seem to reinforce the sense that the world is on the cusp of change like we haven’t seen for at least 10 years. Sometimes the future looks like today, other times it seems completely unanticipated. Democracy, technology, marketing, business, are all up for review at the moment.
